Applying For Funding
- Organisations can make one application for funding a year.
- Our funding is focused on the six key sectors below.
- Those applying for Major Capital Grants of around $1 million or more must get their application to us by September 1 each year.
The six sectors are:
EDUCATION
We support projects that improve educational outcomes for children and young people in our region by adding value to the sector, with a focus on innovative projects and programmes that are generally not eligible for government funding. We will, however, work in partnership on projects that meet our criteria.
Closing dates: June 1/November 1
HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES
The Trust seeks to address social issues, improve equity and reduce poverty, making our communities better places for everyone to live, particularly through supporting women and their families, children and young people, older people and people who experience disability.
Closing dates: Feb 1/July 1
SPORT AND RECREATION
We support projects that encourage people of all ages to participate in sport and recreation with a particular focus on the young and old and the promotion of health and fitness. Closing dates for this sector include rescue service applications.
Closing dates: May 1/October 1
ARTS AND CULTURE
The Trust supports projects that foster access, engagement and experience in the arts and cultural opportunities for all. We work in partnership to achieve the widest possible levels of participation in our region.
Closing dates: April 1/September 1
ENVIRONMENT AND HERITAGE
To increase the quality of life of current and future generations in this region, we support projects that preserve our heritage and protect and enhance the environment.
Closing dates: June 1/November 1
COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
We work in partnership with local and central government agencies, and Maori and Iwi organisations to identify projects that assist social development and economic growth. As this is an area where the Trust has not provided funding in the past, and there is significant national input, we will initially only support pilot projects in Northland.
Closing dates: February 1/July 1
We understand that not all projects fit neatly under one sector and, in fact, your organisation or project may cross sectors. If you are unsure where you qualify for funding, please contact us:
