Allocations and Strategic Relationships

Goal

Through our allocations policies we seek to address the needs of the community as a whole and in particular those who have least access to resources, seeking a balance between social and economic needs and broader recreational, cultural and environmental requirements.

Strategies

  • Investing in skilled and qualified staff and adopting best practice
  • Consulting and working with Maori and Iwi organisations ensuring the Trust's programmes and policies are accessible and appropriate for these communities
  • Working with local, regional and central government agencies to achieve funding agreements
  • Working with other funders on projects of mutual interest
  • Supporting initiatives that strengthen the voluntary philanthropic sectors
  • Reviewing current funding policies and developing new policies that are responsive and flexible
  • Consulting and working with Pasifika and ethnic communities and with refugee communities and agencies
  • Seeking to be proactive and identifying areas where the Trust can take a leading role to achieve positive social outcomes
  • Using the tools of economic and social analysis to inform our policy development
  • Responding to and listening to the community
  • Surveying recipients of our funding, evaluating the effectiveness of our allocations and feeding this information back to our decision-making and service delivery processes
  • Investigating whether there is a role for the Trust to fund innovative projects with other community trusts
  • Investigating the role of the Trust in funding research
  • Developing and implementing sector strategies for the following six sectors:
  1. Education

  2. Health and Social Services

  3. Sport and Recreation

  4. Arts and Culture

  5. Environment and Heritage

  6. Community Economic Development

  • Formulating and implementing a separate process for dealing with applications for capital projects over $1 million
  • Developing an overarching strategy for the Trust to recognise the needs of Maori
  • Developing an overarching strategy for the Trust to recognise the needs of Pasifika communities
