Trustees are appointed to the Board for a four-year term by the Minister of Finance. Information about the next appointments is available from the Department of Internal Affairs.
The Minister of Finance appoints Trustees under the Community Trusts Act 1999. The Act states that the maximum term of office for Trustees must not exceed four years, but a Trustee may hold office on more than one occasion. A person must be resident in the region of the Trust to hold office.
Trustees collectively must have skills or experience in the following areas:
Trustees must be representative of their communities, including tangata whenua, and people from a range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
The Trustees annually elect the Chair, Deputy Chair and various committee chairs.
ASB Community Trust operates under the Community Trusts Act 1999. The purpose of this Act is to make provision for the continued operation of the community trusts that were established under the Trustee Banks Restructuring Act 1988.
ASB Community Trust, a trust duly constituted under the Trustee Banks Restructuring Act 1988, (which has now been replaced with The Community Trusts Act 1999), operates under a Trust Deed.
