Facilities open to all
The Bay of Islands town of Russell is celebrating the recent opening of its new multi-purpose sports clubrooms.
Children from Russell celebrate the opening. The Russell Sports Club now has facilities for all the groups regularly using the sports field – golf, soccer, rugby and baseball. It is also used by the school during sports season and can be hired out for community events.
“With the help and support of many individuals and groups within the community, we now have a facility for the community, especially for families and children,” says club chair Mark Hoksbergen.
“We are thrilled with what the community, working together, has accomplished. Now we hope that everyone will use these facilities – for they are here for everyone to use.”
- In 2007 the Trust gave the club a grant to help complete the clubrooms.
