Capital Funding and Marae strategy

We support capital building projects where there is a strong community involvement, or where the project has regional significance. In recognition of the special role marae play in our community, the Trust will support marae development projects.

If you are considering applying for funding towards a building project please read the following information. This information is essential to determine eligibility for funding and it is important that, by funding community facilities, we are working towards our mission of enhancing the lives of peoples in the communities of Auckland and Northland.

  • Where the total cost of the project is over $50,000 the organisation is required to have raised the first 50% (excluding borrowing) before submitting an application. Please note raising this first 50% confirms your eligibility to apply, this does not automatically secure funding from the Trust.
  • Community use of the facility needs to be clearly demonstrated. This information will include letters of support from current users and/or confirmed support from potential users.
  • The organisations needs to clearly demonstrate that no equivalent community facilities are already in place in that particular community.
  • If you are considering applying for funding over $500,000 towards a building project please read the information on requests for funding over $500,000, or contact us directly to discuss your proposal.

MARAE:

We recognise the special role of the Marae to the communities in our region and we will consider funding towards building upgrades and extensions.

If your marae committee wants to undertake a significant building development on the Marae , please contact us to discuss what steps are required.
