September 1 deadline

  • This date applies to any capital project, in any sector, worth $1 million or more.
  • Click here for details on applications worth between $500,000 and $1 million.
  • See our Community Facilities information for advice on smaller building projects.
ASB Community Trust has a single annual round for the funding of significant regional projects. These are facilities where applicants seek $1 million or more.

These will usually be projects that have already received significant financial support from other funding sources, with at least 65% of funds already secured, but still in need of help to be completed.

Applicants who are not yet ready to apply for funding are still encouraged to submit a Letter of Intent to the Trust, give an indication of when they are likely submit an application and keep the Trust informed of progress with planning.

Please feel free to contact a member of our staff if you need more information.

Application process

All applications must be received by September 1 each year.  Applications received after this date will be returned to the applicant, who will be invited to re-submit their proposal by September 1 the following year.

There will be a two stage process.

Stage One

Applicants must fully complete an ASB Community Trust Application Form. The Trust will consider all eligible applications each November and a limited number will then be invited to submit additional information in order to proceed to Stage Two.

All applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • that the project is value for money
  • the significance and impact of the project
  • the outcomes that will be achieved by the project
  • community support for the project
  • the long term sustainability of the project
  • their ability to access funds from other sources

Stage Two

Succesful applicants identified in Stage One will be asked to supply information, by January 15, on the feasibility of the project and its long term sustainability, including detailed business plans and verifiable evidence of the sustainablility, including:

  • milestones against which success can be monitored
  • a viable business plan independent of on-going support from the ASB Community Trust
  • the project’s consideration of sustainability factors and its alignment with significant local, regional and national plans and strategies.

All applications for facilities will be reviewed by qualified professional external assessors who will report to the Trustees in late February. Successful applicants will be advised of the outcome of the Board’s decisions by the end of March each year.
