Recreation & Sport strategy

We support organisations that focus on community participation and engagement in recreation. Targeted support will be provided for those organisations that aim to increase participation by younger and older people.

If you are applying for funding for a new project, or you have never applied to ASB Community Trust before, it is important that you talk to us before filling in an application form.

Who can apply?

You can apply for funding under the following catagories:

Quick-response grants - encouraging participation

With quick-response grants the usual sector closing dates apply, but you get a decision within eight weeks. Find out about quick-response grants for local recreation & sports groups that aim to encourage participation.

Engagement and collaboration

Engagement and collaboration funding is for organisations with innovative projects that align with the Trust's recreation and sport strategy and have a regional impact.

Infrastructure

Infrastructure funding is for groups needing to improve their infrastructure in order to increase participation.

Minor building projects

The Trust will consider funding minor building projects, up to a maximum of $50,000, for recreation organisations and/or facilties which are aiming to increase participation of older or younger people.
Building upgrade applications worth $50,000 or more are considered under our Community Building Projects budget.

Multi-year funding

The Trust may consider multi-year funding where that support will help an organisation:

  • better achieve its mission and provide ongoing quality of service
  • undertake long-term planning, service or programme development
  • strengthen an organisation's capabilty and capacity.
