Role Purpose

 

 

The purpose of the role is to consult and work with Pasifika organisations and allocated sector organisations in Northland and Auckland to ensure that the Trust’s programmes and policies contribute to effective outcomes for the Pasifika and other communities.

 

This will include providing advice and information relating to the ASB Community Trust funding; processing funding applications, undertaking assessments and providing recommendations; and supporting the ASC Community Trust team to achieve the vision, mission and goals of the ASB Community Trust.

Key Result Areas

1. Responding to and listening to the community

  • Maintain, develop and implement community and sector consultation processes
  • Identify community and sector needs and initiate collaboration and discussion
  • Bring appropriate groups or funders together for improved community outcomes
  • Attend and speak at funding seminars and other public events
  • Meet representative community groups to better understand issues and explore how the Trust might provide assistance or offer opportunities
  • Build and maintain networks in the community
  • Contribute to ASB Community Trust publications and communication channels
  • Actively engage with agencies and groups with which ASB Community Trust can work
  • Undertake special projects as assigned


2. Facilitating Funding

  • Communicate Trust programmes, policies and application processes to Pasifika organizations, and other allocated sector organisations and applicants
  • Process and assess applications for funding and make recommendations for input from peers and in particular the relevant sector Grants Advisors
  • Make recommendation on applications to Grants Committee and Board for decision
  • Process and assess regional and national applications in area of responsibility
  • Communicate with and keep other grants and finance staff informed


3. Policy Development and Planning

  • Contribute to the development of Pasifika Community and other allocated sector policies and programmes in conjunction with other Grants Advisors, Grants Manager , CEO and other Trust staff
  • Contribute to and implement Annual Operational Plan
  • Monitor government policy relevant to the community
  • For Pasifika and other alloated sectors maintain high levels of sector knowledge, reading current literature and attending relevant conferences and meetings


4. Records, Systems, Regulations and Reports

  • Ensure client files maintained and updated
  • Create files to meet legal, auditing and Trust requirements
  • Ensure compliance with Inland Revenue and Charities Commission regulations for all grants and programmes
  • Provide reports and response to enquiries and grants histories as required

External: Community representatives, key sector participants and influencers, sector organisations


Person Profile


Experience

  • Programme/project development and implementation
  • Experience in the Auckland and Northland area
  • Experience working with Pacifika communities
  • Demonstrated sound judgement
  • Provided funding advice


Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong research and analysis skills
  • Sound knowledge of Pacifika communities and other community sectors
  • Knowledge and application of best practices in grant making
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in delivering within a sector
  • Advanced IT and office skills including Word, Outlook, Excel, Access and Internet
  • Drivers license
  • Proven ability in analytical, database and reporting skills
  • Understanding of processes and procedures for structuring projects

  • Ability to work successfully in a team, to set goals, working effectively with others to deliver results, building team spirit and supporting others

  • Excellent presentation skills, oral and written communication skills, able to present to diverse groups of varying sizes
