Help for hospice shortfall
PRESS RELEASE
North Shore Hospice Trust’s efforts to cover its funding shortfall have been helped by a $65,671 grant from community projects funder ASB Community Trust.
The Trust grant will help fund computer upgrades, a projector and sound system for volunteer meetings and signage around the hospice.
Also in the health area, the Trust's funding has been approved for another North Shore community group, with a $26,872 grant approved to help with running costs at the North Shore Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Meanwhile, the area’s sports fans are on track to enjoy improved facilities at the North Shore Bays Community Fitness Centre, with a $101,155 ASB Trusts grant helping with the planned athletics track and swimming pool upgrade.
And a $138,208 grant is shuttling out to Badminton North Harbour to help with its building upgrade, junior player uniforms and general running costs. Among the planned projects is an automatic booking system which will allow the courts to be used from 6am to 11pm, seven days a week.
The Trust decides on grants to community groups each month. At their April meeting trustees approved grants for projects in education, the arts, sport, recreation, health and social services areas. It is part of about $50 million given to community groups in Auckland and Northland each year.
