Adult literacy schemes in South Auckland, Franklin and on Waiheke Island were among successful applications to ASB Community Trust in its latest grants round.
South Auckland Adult Literacy was granted $47,658 toward operating costs, Adult Literacy Franklin $16,228 and Waiheke Adult Literacy $17,402.
Another education group to gain a grant is The Gifted Children's Advancement Charitable Trust, which provides a specialist education programme for gifted children from low-income families.
The CEO of ASBCT, Jennifer Gill, says a $31,728 grant will help deliver the programme in low decile areas, “where parents of gifted children may have less access to extracurricular programmes that are often used to support gifted children”.
