DonateNZ, the web-based service that links up donors and community groups, is now free to use.
Membership used to cost $100 a year, but Chief Executive Claire Sawyers says DonateNZ has been turned into a charity and is now a free community service.
Any school, early childhood education centre or not-for profit organization can become a recipient member, allowing them to:
“We now have 420 organisations on the site and more are registering by the day. We’ve had a fantastic response from organisations to the change and look forward to how this is going to propel us in the future,” Calire says.
Donate NZ’s website allows individuals, organisations and companies to donate goods, time and discounts. Once the offer has been listed, recipients can browse through and accept the donation. Alternatively, donors can look through the wishes section. If they can help, they click "Fulfill Wish" and are given the recipients details.
“Believe it or not, schools have sheds full with stuff that they get given, which they do not need. However, they don't want to discourage community support by refusing donations. DonateNZ gives both parties the control and support they need to ensure nothing goes to waste again,” Claire says.
